Polyplastics Co., Ltd. (President: Toshio Shiwaku, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) has officially decided to construct a new polyacetal manufacturing plant in Nantong Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu Province, China.

Currently, the Polyplastics Group has four polyacetal production bases around the world, Fuji plant, Kaohsiung plant, Kuantan plant, and Nantong plant, and has an annual supply capacity of 290,000 tons. Of these, Nantong owned by PTM Engineering Plastics (Nantong) Co., Ltd. was requested to suspend the operation of a chemical industry company in the North District in March 2021 due to the policy of China’s Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone. We have been rushing to prepare for the alternative plant capacity.

The production capacity of the new company is planned to be 150,000 tons in total in two stages. The operation of 90,000 tons in November 2024, which will be carried out in advance, will cover the impact of the above-mentioned shutdown of existing plant, and the final supply capacity will be 150,000 tons. With this investment, the Polyplastics Group has established a system to cover Chinese demand from the Kaohsiung plant and this new manufacturing plant in main China, which has strong global demand for POM and respond to customer needs by making improvements such as lead time and reduction in transportation costs. In addition, we will secure other existing facilities as a supply capacity to new markets such as Europe, the United States and ASEAN, which have been developing markets since 2012, and accelerate further global expansion.

Polyacetal is an engineering plastic with excellent mechanical properties, slidability, and moldability, and is used in a wide range of industrial fields, including automobile parts, parts for information appliances and home appliances, and daily necessities such as fasteners and buckles. Since the last expansion in Malaysia (90,000 tons in 2014), the market has expanded steadily with the global economic growth.

We have introduced the technology we have cultivated so far to realize not only quality but also the world’s highest level of energy saving as a polyacetal production facility, and we will continue to consider various environments toward the realization of a sustainable society.
